I am very confused, I have been to the immigration office to apply for a Thai retirement visa, and I have 500,000.00 Australian dollars in a Thai foreign currency account, The immigration officer said no they will not issue me a Thai retirement visa because I don’t have the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank, what do they mean?

A, We have seen this many times, the immigration office will not accept the money in a foreign currency deposit account, unfortunately you will have to transfer some of your Aussie dollars into another Thai account making sure it is in Thai baht, You will need at least 800,000 baht in a Thai bank before you apply for your Thai retirement visa
