Australian national Thai retirement Visa

I am very confused, I have been to the Thai immigration office to apply for a Thai retirement visa, and I have 500,000.00 Australian dollars in a Thai foreign currency account, The Immigration officer said no I cannot have my visa because I don’t have the 800,000.00 Thai baht in the bank, what do they mean?

Answer

We have seen this many times, the immigration office will not accept the money in a foreign currency deposit account, unfortunately you will have to transfer some of your Aussie dollars into another Thai account making sure it is in Thai baht,

Indefinite remain to stay UK residence permit

I have lived in the UK with my Thai wife for a two year period and because I am retired we like to spend approximately 8 months of the year in Thailand.

We have recently applied at the Home Office for a further UK Visa extension and we expected to get an indefinite remain to stay UK residence permit but we only received a limited period of stay for 1 year why is this?

Answer

There can be numerous reasons why this decision has been made and you should receive notification why.

With regards to the details in your question it is fairly obvious to the decision maker that your Thai wife has spent more time out of the UK during her 2 year UK settlement visa than in which would raise the question “Is she settled in the UK or not?”.

spend as much time as possible in the UK and prove your Thai wife is settled.

There are no strict guidelines to follow so I always advise my clients to reside a minimum of 9 months in the first year and 9 months of the second year or try to spend as much time as possible in the UK and prove your Thai wife is settled.

Australian settlement visa medical

I am an Australian citizen and we have recently submitted a settlement visa application for my Thai wife to live with me in Australia, when she submitted the relevant documents including her medical report she was informed that her child from a previous marriage who is not traveling to Australia will have to under go a medical also is this correct?

Answer

We have seen this on numerous occasions, at Key visa when we help a client with an Australian settlement visa we automatically arrange for the Thai applicant and the Thai children to have the medical at the same time, it is not over expensive and saves time in the future whether the children are traveling or not.

You can obtain the medical application form from the Australian Embassy Bangkok website, the form is called the form 26 and it must be partially completed before attending the visit to the hospital.

How Long is a UK Settlement Visa

How Long is a UK Settlement Visa?

I am an British Citizen and we have successfully obtained a UK settlement visa for my Thai wife to live in the UK. We presumed that the UK Settlement visa was for 2 years and we received 2 years and 3 months is this a mistake?

Answer

No this is not a mistake, fairly recently when you are married to a Thai wife and receive a settlement visa you are given 2 years and 3 months.

we presume that this change is because after your spouse has resided in the UK for a 2 year period

we presume that this change is because after your spouse has resided in the UK for a 2 year period you have to apply at the Home Office, Croyden, UK for a further extension of stay and we feel that this is an under due consideration period for the Home Office to make a decision hence the Thai national will not be entering into overstay.

Thai girlfriend refused USA Tourist Visa

I am an American Citizen and my Thai girlfriend has been refused a tourist visa to visit me in the USA for 2 weeks only,

I produced bank account statements showing funds over a Million Dollars but obviously that was not enough for the american embassy in Bangkok!! Any bright ideas to help get the USA tourist visa.

Visa Teaser Answer

Without seeing the USA Tourist visa refusal notice it is difficult to ascertain the reasons for a refused application, but if I had to take a wild guess I would have said that you have presented the application solely on the basis that you are financially sound to pay for the holiday,

“mistake” the main reason why we see an application refused is because the foreigner presumes that as long as he is ok the visa for his Thai girlfriend should be awarded. Always remember it is the Thai national that requires the visa not the sponsor!! Maybe you should reapply and get professional assistance.

Renew Thai Driving Licence

Question - Renew Thai Driving Licence

I have a one year Thai driving license which is due to expire next month but I shall be out of the country at this time can I renew my Thai driving license before it expires?

Answer

No, you cannot renew a Thai driving license until it has expired. The earliest you can renew your Thai driving license is on the day that it expires. You can also renew the license after the expiry date.

When you first apply or renew your Thai driving license make sure you take a copy of your passport with the latest visa stamp, a residence certificate from the immigration bureau and new photographs, you don’t need a medical certificate for your further five year license.

Thai retirement visa income proof required

Question - Thai retirement visa income proof required

I have just renewed my Thai retirement visa at the Pattaya immigration office and because I am using my embassy income verification letter as part of the application they required a copy of my UK credit card back and front. Is this a new retirement visa rule and if so what are the reasons for this.

Answer

This seems to be a new procedure implemented by the Pattaya immigration office at the moment.
The reason for this new added procedure when applying for a Thai retirement visa seems to be that if you are working off an income as part of your application you have to show that you have a facility to withdraw funds from overseas if required. The easiest way to do this is with your ATM bank card.

I have been asked the same question many times from men in Pattaya regarding applying for a Thai retirement visa and my answer is - when you go for a meal at a restaurant and you pay with your credit card do you question the waiter or cashier “why do you need my credit card” and what are you going to do with the payment slip after I leave.

Thai Girlfriend Refused UK Tourist Visa

Question - Refused UK Tourist Visa

I have just been refused a tourist visa for my Thai girlfriend to visit me in the UK.
Can you advise me how long we have to wait before we can re-apply for a UK Tourist visa with the British embassy in Bangkok

Answer

Your Thai girlfriend has been refused a UK Tourist visa. There is no time scale set down by the British embassy in Bangkok before you can re-apply for the Visa.

If you think the refusal was unjust because the clearing visa officer has missed paperwork or due to lack of presentation they have misinterpreted the application. In this case you Thai girlfriend can re-apply for the UK Tourist Visa as soon as you feel confident. However in these cases after a refusal I always advise my clients to get professional advise and help with a re-application.

Stay in Thailand for 50 days

Visa Teaser Question

I have a Thai visa on arrival “30 days” and want to stay in Thailand for 50 days.

I have already got my flight booked and when I went to the Thai Immigration they onlg gave me an extra 7 days and said I had to leave Thailand at that time, what can I do to stay in Thailand for 50 days?

Visa Teaser Answer

The easiest solution to stay in Thailand for 50 days if you are already here is to go on a Cambodian visa run which shall give you 30 days more, In total this would give you the chance to stay in Thailand for 60 days. 30 days on arrival + 30 days given at cambodia

If you wish to stay in Thailand longer than 30 days - get the correct visa in your home country before you even travel to Thailand.

It is important that you have a visa run agent check your passport before you book a visa run to make sure you are eligible for the 30 days, in most of the articles I write I try to advise people that if you plan to stay more than 30 days when you come to Thailand don’t just bring your suitcase, make sure you obtain a visa from a Thai consulate in your own country before you arrive it does save you hassle.
