Thai Retirement Visa money needed

Thai Retirement Visa money needed Question

I am very confused, I have been to the immigration office to apply for a Thai retirement visa, and I have 500,000.00 Australian dollars in a Thai foreign currency account, The immigration officer said no they will not issue me a Thai retirement visa because I don’t have the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank, what do they mean?

Thai Retirement Visa money needed Answer

A, We have seen this many times, the immigration office will not accept the money in a foreign currency deposit account, unfortunately you will have to transfer some of your Aussie dollars into another Thai account making sure it is in Thai baht, You will need at least 800,000 baht in a Thai bank before you apply for your Thai retirement visa

Thailand Work Permit

Thailand Work Permit Question

I am currently on a one year Thai business visa issued by Thailand immigration and I have a Thailand work permit, recently I stopped working and handed my work permit back to the company, I am over 50 years old and have the criteria for a retirement visa but when I went to the Thai immigration they told me I should have a piece of paper from them before I can do anything, I am confused!!

Thailand Work Permit Answer

The Visa officer at the immigration office is referring to the document called a Tor Tor 10 this is issued by the labour office when a work permit is given back to them, when you have the Tor Tor 10 you should then go to the immigration office so they can cancel your current business visa and give you a 7 day stamp, which means you have 7 days to keep your non-immigrant status and organize your paperwork to convert to a Thai retirement visa,

My advise is to have your paperwork ready for your new application before you go with your Tor Tor 10, when you have converted to a new visa make sure you have a copy of the Tor Tor 10 stapled in your passport for future reference.

Please note, on the Tor Tor 10 it has the date when your work permit was handed back to the labor office and the law states that your seven day extension starts from this date, I have seen so many people think that there business visa is still current even though they have given back there work permit, be careful of big overstays.

Thai girlfriends daughter UK Visa

Thai girlfriends daughter UK Visa Question

I we have just returned from Bangkok, I was applying for my Thai girlfriend and her daughter for a UK Visa to come for a holiday. My Thai girlfriend has been to the Uk previously, but when we tried to apply for a visa for her daughter they said we needed a paper from the babies’ father, Can you help?

Thai girlfriends daughter UK Visa Answer

I understand it can be confusing, when you apply for your Thai girlfriends child to travel to the UK, it is always beneficial for your Thai girlfriend to get a sole custody paper from the local Amphur (town hall) were the child’s birth is registered, what we have seen this a simple process for the Thai and can be given over the counter.

It will then be easier applying for a visa for the Daughter.

My first Thai retirement visa

Visa Teaser Question

I am 51 year old British citizen and I wish to apply for my first Thai retirement visa.

I have deposited the 800,000.00 baht in my Thai bank and have just returned from the Thai immigration office and they stated that I cannot apply because my 800,000.00 baht has not been in my bank for three months and that I only have a 60 day tourist visa in my passport I am very confused about what I can do?

Visa Teaser Answer

The rule as from the 1st October 2007 is that if you are working off the 800,000.00 baht in your Thai bank only without an additional income for a retirement visa then you have to have the funds in your bank for a period of three months before you can apply if this is your first application

In your case you do have an option because you have the 800,000.00 baht in your bank already you can convert the 60 day tourist visa or in some cases the 30 day visa on arrival to a 90 day non-immigrant visa for retirement visa purposes at an Immigration Office.

The non-immigrant visa is always required when applying for a long stay visa so what you have to do firstly is convert your current visa to a 90 day non-immigrant visa which will mean that your monies will be in your Thai bank for a period of three months when your money has been in the bank for a period of three months you go back to the immigration bureau and apply for your retirement visa. You must leave the 800,000.00 baht in the bank untouched for the period of three months do not allow the funds to drop below this level not even one baht.

Worried about losing my Thai retirement visa

Visa Teaser Question

I currently have a retirement visa and in one week I have to renew but I have only six month validity left on my passport and I am worried about losing my Thai retirement visa, what can I do?

Visa Teaser Answer

Don’t worry this is a common occurrence, take your documents to the Thai immigration office and apply as you normally would for your retirement visa, they will issue you with the Thai retirement visa but it will only run to the finish date of your passport.

The immigration officer will write underneath your new visa stamp the date that your retirement visa should finish so when you have your new passport, take the old and the new passport to the immigration and they will transfer your stamps and give you the full year in your new passport.

Thai girlfriend has been refused a tourist visa to visit me in The USA

I am an American Citizen and my Thai girlfriend has been refused a tourist visa to visit me in The USA for 2 weeks only, I produced bank account statements showing funds over a Million Dollars but obviously that was not enough!! Any bright ideas?

Answer

Without seeing the USA Visarefusal notice it is difficult to ascertain the reasons for a refused application, but if I had to take a wild guess I would have said that you have presented the application solely on the basis that you are financially sound to pay for yor Thai girlfriends holiday to the USA, “mistake”.

The main reason why we see an Visa application refused is because the foreigner presumes that as long as he is ok the visa should be awarded.

Always remember it is the Thai girlfriend that requires the visa not the USA sponsor!! Maybe you should re-apply and get professional assistance.
